Dana comes to town, but has a hard time mustering up any enthusiasm for a "Weird Al" Yankovic concert Adam wants her to attend, which makes him think their relationship is coming to an end. Meanwhile, Erica and Barry take their new found knowledge as peer counselors and apply it to Murray, who they diagnose as depressed.

When Barry sees underdog Eddie the Eagle in the Olympics, he decides to popularize Ball Ball in order to gain respect at school. Meanwhile, Beverly catches wind that Murray's store sales are down and intervenes by selling the latest furniture craze….

Barry starts to make fun of Adam for wanting to join theater until he finds out that Adam and Lainey have been cast in roles that require them to kiss; Barry decides to sabotage the production by joining the stage crew.

When Adam attends a Globetrotters game, he falls in love with the “theatrics” of the team and tries doing his own tricks on the court. But when he cuts together a video that makes Barry look like he lost a game to Adam and his friends, Barry demands a rematch, culminating in an epic battle at the school gym. Meanwhile, it’s Murray’s 50th birthday, and, despite his protests, Beverly throws yet another surprise party for him but gets more than she bargained for.

Adam feels like he's losing his best friend, Chad, so he attempts to join the tennis team. When Chad picks Dave Kim as his partner, Adam vows to take him down with Barry in a tennis match, changeling Andre Agassi. Meanwhile, with the help of Beverly, Erica deals with her post-break up depression just in time for Valentine's Day.

When both Barry and Erica gets jobs working at Spencer’s Gifts, Erica gets jealous at how good of an employee Barry is. Meanwhile, Muray is thrilled that two of his children have jobs, so he insists that Adam gets one, despite Beverly’s adamancy that he should focus on filmmaking,

Barry feels threatened when school deadhead Matt starts hanging out with the JTP and soon finds himself kicked out of the group when he becomes too controlling. Back at home, Adam uses a curse word which sends Beverly into a tail spin, even though she curses all of the time. To curb everyone’s behavior, a swear jar is created, with the money going to a vacation of the winner’s choice.

The Goldberg kids have big plans on prom night, all of which go awry. The night includes Barry's big romantic gestures for Lainey; Erica's attempt to go to prom with Geoff; and Adam being asked out by a nerdy but cute junior.

Afraid she’ll be all alone in her old age, Beverly attempts to bond with other moms to form their own group like the TV show “The Golden Girls,” while Erica gets annoyed at Geoff’s romantic gestures, almost causing them to break up.

Adam loves director Steven Spielberg so much and decides to film an original script he wrote about Indiana Jones and his passion for directing is called into question. Meanwhile, Murray and Barry make a bet about whether or not a cheesesteak sandwich in New Jersey is the best one ever.

When Beverly gets a glimpse into a soon-to-be empty nest, she replaces her kids with the Mellor brothers, nursing Coach Mellor back to health after falling off the rope climb. Meanwhile, Erica and her college roommate get on each other’s nerves in their dorm room, especially when Valley Erica puts a scrunchie on the door and kicks Erica out.

Barry enlists the JTP to help him break up Beverly's group of friends so Barry can have all the attention but soon realizes he made a major mistake when Beverly gets into a fight with her friends. Meanwhile, Adam’s attempts to trick Murray into loving theater backfires.

After seeing "Flashdance," Beverly decides to take up dance with the Frentas and is rejected when the family doesn't support her after telling them she is going to be in a recital. Meanwhile, when Emmy starts dating a cool guy, Adam thinks their friendship is in jeopardy, so he sets out to be cooler which backfires.

Barry gets the chance to throw the first pitch at a Philadelphia Phillies game and believes this is his chance to play professionally, but it's anything but. Meanwhile, Erica makes an important decision about her future in college.

Adam tries to start a Mel Brooks club after he sees the movie "Spaceballs," and Jackie mistakes his club advertisement for political satire and puts it in the school paper. Meanwhile, when Beverly and Pops come up for parents weekend at school, Erica plans on telling them an important decision she has made, but Murray surprises them and tags along.

Despite Beverly’s wishes, Jackie’s parents allow Adam to watch “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and a disagreement between the families ensues. But Beverly dreams of facing off with horror icon Freddy Krueger, which teaches her an important lesson about her son’s relationship with Jackie. Meanwhile, Erica realizes she’s not as popular as she once was as she starts hanging out at William Penn Academy despite the fact she’s no longer a student there.

Murray becomes an overzealous stage parent when he learns Adam has no interest in the school production of “Fiddler on the Roof.” Meanwhile, Beverly can’t seem to keep from interfering with Erica’s latest career plan.

Murray and Geoff team up to pull Beverly, Barry and Erica out of their shared misery that Lainey has left town. Adam’s dread of gym class is amplified when Coach Mellor’s brother, Coach Nick, arrives and uses fear as a motivator. Meanwhile, Coach Mellor prepares for the next step of his life.

With Geoff's help, Erica and Valley Erica find a new band member to replace Lainey, but Barry convinces Geoff the new band member is trying to steal Erica from him. Meanwhile, Adam and Murray try to out-gift each other so that neither of them has to go to Valentine's Day dinner with Beverly.

Despite Beverly wanting the two boys to bond, Adam and Johnny Atkins compete for the head of the Highlander Club at school. Meanwhile, Barry tries to keep him and JTP from the same fate of Murray falling out of touch with his high school friends.

Beverly discovers Murray is actually a year younger than they knew so she plans a do-over at celebrating his 50th birthday, while Coach Mellor attempts to prepare non-athletic Adam for tryouts for pickleball.

Geoff struggles to keep his living arrangement with Erica and Barry a secret from Beverly during game night, while Adam goes to his guidance teacher for a lesson in being cool so he can get closer to a new girl in chemistry class.
