I just went back and re-watched this. Tried to imagine seeing it as it first aired, and thought, wow. Ian and Barbara were more of the save everyone, don;t hurt anyone if you don't have to. The Doctor was more "Let's get back to the TARDIS, n get out of here, I loved when Ian calls him Doctor Forman, and he says Doctor Who?

Yeah he's not the Doctor we know now. More than willing to brain someone with a rock to get back to the ship.
It's a fantastic opening episode and is a great start to the show.

I Think i'll go back n watch more classic, i loved seeing how he changed and how Susan also grew up. Still my biggest disappointment is she never was allowed to come back

@raventhom I think the classic series has so much to offer. So many interesting concepts and stories.
I love The Keys of Marinus as it is 6 very different stories with a bridging idea. Kind of like a mini key to time.
I agree Susan is great in the first story. Sadly she turns into a bit of a whinger and a screamer as the show went on.
I remember hearing Carole Ann Ford was disapointed with how the character turned out. She was initially supposed to be very mysterious.
If you like the classic series I can fully recommend the Krynoid Podcast.
It is two blokes who each month do a detailed synopsis and review of a classic story. They've been going for years now. I really enjoyed working through the back episodes.
Now it's like a book club, they let you know which episode is next and you can post your thoughts on facebook or email in.

Those were truly simpler times. The Doctor was a mystery, one knew nothing of his origin, his history and home planet. Innocence is now lost, what then remains? I miss Susan

Loved Marinas also, and the way they used all the characters was clever The other strange thing about Susan was, in school, both Ian and Barbara commented n how much smarter she is than either one of them. Then as time goes on, she seems to lose all that knowledge
