I'm loving the new season and Bill, although at times I do want her to stop talking for a second. Capaldi has also become one of my favorite Doctors and I'm sorely going to miss him when he regenerates, which I think is this season. I'm actually nervous as to who the 13th will be...which isn't a good thing for me. I've seen some "speculations" and I haven't been impressed with any of them. Then again, I could always do what I did with Matt Smith and just skip his entire run.
eh Bills nervous chatter makes her more human, which has been sorely lacking in companions
way to many mysterious secrets from them
I really wish Capaldi would stay a few more seasons I also am concerned at the suggestions for new Doctors
I had a hard time accepting Capaldi, but he has grown on me, but the new companion!? She's so damn annoying and I really hope they get rit of her in the end of the season -- there's only so much political correctness a person can endure, and my limits is reached. I don't mind she's gay, and I don't mind she's black, but I do mind when BBC trying to ram it down our throats in bulks -- I wouldn't be surprised, if it turns out she's a Christian Hindu Muslim Buddhist, with Jewish ancestors, that pray to the Norse Gods, and several native African tribe Gods in a pagan satanic temple -- It's ridiculous!

Matt Smith wasn't that bad, agreed he wasn't my first choice after David Tennant left the show, but he grew on me, and his interaction with Karen Gillian worked brilliantly.

According to press reports she was cast for one series.

Totally agree with you. The biggest issue I had with Clara is her main characteristic originally was her mystery, the fact that she was the impossible girl. She was more a plot device than a character and I feel her character suffered because of this. Once the mystery was gone there wasn't much to fall back onto. I did feel she became a lot better in her final series. I also find Moffat usually writes his females the same e.g. River Song, Clara etc. He always tries to make them too strong and too smart. I loved the scene in the pilot where Bill first travels in the Tardis and has to run to the bathroom. Usually the assistants just seem to accept it so a realistic moment like that was a great breath of fresh air

Liking it too. Has the usual problems of being uneven. At times it's underwritten but at other times it feels like axe-grinding. A characterisation doesn't need to be nothing but quirks and individuality to convince us that someone is quirky and individual. Unless you are trying to convey one of those "quirky and individual" type characters, which all come out the same in the end.

What a shame you skipped Matt Smith. I too thought nobody could ever better David Tennant, but I sat through the first episode of Matt and fell in love. He was delightful. Almost child-like. Appealed to me, anyway!

Like many when Matt Smith was announced as the new doctor I thought he was far too young. The great thing is though for such a young doctor he really was able to sell the fact he as a 500 or whatever time lord, you could see and feel the age and that is no easy feat.

Agreed, Matt won me over immediately with his uncanny ability to be physically young, yet show the full weight of his 900+ years.
Capaldi has really hit his stride this season. He hasn't been bad the last two series, but the writing has been so hit and miss, it's made it difficult to get a consistent grip on his iteration of the character. That's why I was really hoping he'd stay on after Monday, just to see what someone else might do with him, but this is the next best thing.
Matt Lucas is the best thing about the show right now, I hope they don't kill them off this year, to keep him around to witness the Doctor regenerate as David Walliams!
I am enjoying this season too. And I agree with posters about Bill being a good companion. They are writing her as a young adult. I also enjoyed companion Donna Noble because she was written as an adult.
I will miss this doctor. I like his style, and giggle quite a bit. He is currently my favorite of the rebooted series.

Capaldi is good at being irreverent and comical when stating the obvious.
