Please disregard this post and re-open. Horizons should be season 26 of this series, not an entirely new series.

Neither AniDB, AnimeNewsNetwork nor MyAnimeList consider it as a sequel. Consequently, it should be a separate series.

Pokemon considers it season 26. Those sources you listed have the main pokemon series broken into an entirely new series for each generation (i.e. Adanced, Diamond and pearl, etc), which is obviously not how really it is or how we already have it on TMDB. For consistency and accuracy horizons needs to be season 26 of the main show.

There aren't any links to them storywise, there is an entirely new website for it in japan. The journey of the main character is finished.

They don't consider the Yu-gi-oh series, or even Boruto same thing as Naruto, why would pokémon be considered when we don't even have the confirmation that it is set in the same universe?

Not in Japan.

They are correct.

which is obviously not how really it is

This is the way it was originally broadcasted in Japan.

or how we already have it on TMDB.

It is on our list of anime whose seasons splits need to be corrected. This will be done at a later date, not yet defined, by the administrator.

No.

Not in Japan.

They are correct.

None of these are right, Japan considers it one long series not several different shows. Horizons is officially season 26 of pokemon, not a new show.

Please refer to this thread where we had the same discussion for season 25:

Horizons should be added as season 26 to follow the rule as quoted in the last reply

First, Japan will NEVER consider it season "26" because for them each generation is a different season. Second, this is not a sequel, there is no evidence that it is set in the same universe. And being "Pokémon" doesn't make it in the same universe. Look at Pokémon Generations, Pokémon Origins and Pokémon Evolutions, they aren't in the same universe. At the time I wrote that, it wasn't announced that the main anime was going to end. And it did end.

This is a spin-off with new characters, a new story, a new style, why do you want it so munch to be considered the same thing? Japan does this all the time, they reset famous series with new characters. You don't need to watch any season of the Pokémon anime to watch Horizons. Will the poster still be Pikachu? When that character is not in the show? Will the main background still be Satoshi and Pikachu? When they aren't in the show? How does that make sense to you? Unless Satoshi appears in the anime and it is clealy stated that this is in the same universe, this can't be considered a sequel. It might even be in the movies universe. We just don't know yet.

Look at Digimon, each series has a different page, except Digimon Adventure 02, because it is a clear sequel to the first anime.

Will the poster still be Pikachu? When that character is not in the show? Will the main background still be Satoshi and Pikachu? When they aren't in the show? How does that make sense to you?

I mean, yes. The same reason my posters for Fargo, True Detective, White Lotus, AHS, etc feature characters and locations that are no longer in the show.

Ok, you won't be convinced. Unless you present evidence that it is a sequel, they won't change.

No, Japan doesn't consider them as one long series, but as a series per generation.

These series, being sequels, should be, as per our rules, listed as seasons in one single entry.

Horizons is officially season 26 of pokemon, not a new show.

No, Horizons isn't officially season 26. This season numbering is only used in the Occidental world and not in Japan.

Please refer to this thread where we had the same discussion for season 25:

This discussion has nothing in common with the case here.

Horizons should be added as season 26 to follow the rule as quoted in the last reply

Horizons is not a sequel. Consequently, it should be listed separately.
