Having watched the first 2 series and been blown away with the brilliant acting, plot and casting, I am very disappointed with Season 3.
Were there no American actors available for the lead role? Ewan McGregor is a good actor but he struggles with the nuances of the accent required and I find myself waiting for the misses rather than immersing in his characters.
Mary Winstead is completely miscast in her role in my opinion; she is a light comedic actress, and there is no depth at all in her Nikki Swango portrayal. Her Minnesota accent also falls apart regularly.

I don't find any of the characters interesting this season, except for Varga. I agree that it has to do with the acting. Ray Stussy is ridiculous. Emmett Stussy is flat. The whole scenario is not out of control enough.

I agree! First 2 seasons were excellent it's like they wrote season 3 while sleeping. It's boring!

Lol!! I do like her. I mean in general the season is lacking in comparison to the first 2. I read this will most likely be the last season. I'm disappointed because I watched s1 s2 each twice and wouldn't give this one a second thought after it ends and we had to wait over a year for it.

Absolutely agree with the negative posters - I watched half of the first episode and I switched it off. It did not engage me at all. I had hoped that they would continue where they left off with the last series - there was plenty of life left in that story !!

I didn't want to sound totally off on this installment of the series; just in comparison to the previous ones. Good story telling requires significant credibility for the viewer to immerse and suspend disbelief. One key moment of the show where they push the aircon onto the perps head was not believable, especially after the semblance of scientific calculation where Swango counts off the seconds for him to go down the stairs - but he then stops conveniently exactly below for a long smoke... nah, not buying it. I could go on...
The smaller roles get the best performances.
I am sorry that the series may be coming to an end because there is a quirky difference in the culture up there that is engaging and which the previous shows showcased very well.

After an exceptional first season, I thought the second was a few steps down- story wise.
This third season is completely uninteresting to me. I find myself doing a lot of eye rolling.

I like it just fine. Maybe more than Season 2.

I agree that McGregor is miscast. Not only is he not doing so well with the Minnesota accent (he has said in interviews that it is the hardest one he has ever done), but he is just not convincing as either a milquetoast or a loser, both of which he has to play here. He is too vital an actor, I think.

Honestly I don't think MacGregor was given enough direction through the plot to really make heads or tails of how his character of Emmit should come across. I think this one baffled him a bit and it showed.
