Medical resident Liv Moore becomes a zombie and loses her ambition until she begins working at the city morgue to gain access to brains that give her sustenance and allow her to maintain her humanity. She also learns that her new diet enables her to experience a victim's memories that can be used to help solve the person's murder.

Liv's newest corpse is a sociopathic hitman, and she's apathetically shocked to discover that she no longer feels emotions. Meanwhile, Marcy turns up as a full zombie and Ravi hopes that he can restore her in the hopes that it will lead to a cure for Liv.

As Liv and Clive try to track down Cameron and determine his connection to Max Rager, Blaine interrogates Major about the missing brains.

Liv consumes the brains of a cantankerous old man to help gain insight into his death. After receiving an anonymous call on the tipster hotline, Liv and Detective Babineax stop by the residence of Byron Thistlewaite, to question the mysterious caller. Meanwhile, Ravi suspects that Major might be experiencing a side effect of the cure, and Liv pays Blaine a surprise visit.

Liv, Ravi, and Major get a lead on the Utopium-tainted corpses when the man who may have killed them turns up dead. Meanwhile, Blaine discovers that his father left his money to his maid in case he died due to foul play, and Clive and Dale realize that Major is involved with Blaine.

Liv has discovered there are more zombies living in Seattle than she previously believed. In fact, there’s a private military contractor employing a small zombie army, and that army is preparing for the day humans learn of their existence. Major was exonerated for the crimes of the Chaos Killer, but is still considered a pariah. He manages to land a job with the one and only place that will hire him. Meanwhile, Blaine is accused of lying.

Liv uncovers the shocking truth about the virus and the far-reaching consequences of the vaccine. Majors exams his future as a human. Blaine makes a business proposal.

While investigating the murder of a Seattle Seahawk superfan, Liv has a surprising vision. Meanwhile, Major is assigned the task of mentoring young, homeless zombies, and Ravi is still carrying a torch for Peyton. Lastly, Blaine is dealing with a threat looming from his past.

The outside world further isolates Seattle while Peyton, Ravi, Clive and Major race to save Liv from execution for her work as Renegade.

While investigating a murder case with no body and no brain to eat, the only evidence Liv and Clive have to work with is a grainy video and a little bit of blood found at the crime scene. Meanwhile, Blaine is up to his old tricks.
