She was one of my favorite parts of the show. I could see a whole series about her adventures with the hand lol.

She claimed she's been living since at least the 17th century so more than definitely she was a madame.

Don't forget Madame Gao also kicked both Iron Fist and Daredevil's ass. When Daredevil warned her to call off her guards else he would break her legs was a riot, but Madame Gao did it anyway because she knew she didn't need them to defend her against him. As for what happened to her in Iron Fist, well she let that happen too, for reasons.
