Discuss Colony

Well now we have some details about what happened to people outside the colonies. Apparently the Raps killed off a good portion of the population but not everyone, and patrol around making sure survivor settlements don't get too big. Humans are social animals. As long as we can't organize well enough and big enough to offer serious resistance we're not a threat. I'd love to see one of those big walker drones the pilot was talking about. This is probably what Snyder meant when he told Katie the outside was "a place you don't want to be". I imagine there are plenty of robbers who will kill you and take what you have.

How long non-perishable foods and medicines (like antibiotics) would last depends mostly on how large a percentage of the people were killed early on. The fewer survivors around to share, the longer that stuff is still available to scavenge. For a time you'd expect people to be friendly and help each other. Human on human violence doesn't become a real problem until the pickings get slim. Then it's every man for himself! It could reach that point before the supplies run low if mobility is difficult though. Do the Raps' flying patrol drones fire on humans walking out in the open during the day, or pass them by unless there's a whole crowd down there? If the Bowmans get out of the bloc we may see for ourselves what it's like.

I thought the show could re-invent itself for S3 by sending the Bowmans outside the Colony, but now that doesn't seem like a good concept based on what we've heard. The 100 is the best show I have ever seen for making each season so unique while still keeping core elements. I guess the similarities between S1 and S2 on Colony should have told us to expect only "baby steps".

This season seems to be building toward a direct strike against the Raps. I'm guessing they'll do some real damage; not as much as the outside resistance is hoping for, but enough to change the game. The Bowmans and Broussard's people may get out of LA just as the colony is being demolished in retaliation. Season 3 is supposedly going to be different. And they've hinted that Beau (Carl Weathers) will be back. Since he's outside now, that's where they'd have to be in order to run into him. No big surprise if he wound up with that resistance group the pilot comes from. Maybe the season will follow two separate stories. Inside the occupation with Snyder, the Governor General, etc., and the outside, with Will and Katie, Broussard, and the resistance, sort of like The 5th Wave if that movie had actually been good. Of course I'm assuming Colony gets a third season. Right now it's "on the bubble" as they say. On the line between renewal and cancellation, it could go either way.

I would hate to lose Snyder as a character. Bram is also a loose end since Mommy and Daddy don't respect him. Maybe Snyder and Bram could join the other Bowmans outside if the Colony does get blown up. Don't really care if Madeline and Nolan make it out, but the writers have invested a lot in the pseudo religion story line so we may be stuck with that outside the colony as well.

I think the whole Greatest Day thing is just a cover story so that when the exodus to the Factory reaches its peak near the end, everyone will be ready for it. People won't panic as the bloc noticeably empties out and start going to ground or fighting back. They'll just march onto the transports with a smile on their faces and a song in their hearts. Like cows walking calmly into the slaughterhouse. Remember that the people inside the colony have been living under the occupation but otherwise much as they did before. They have electricity, TV, hot showers, etc. People living in miserable squatter camps and being periodically chased off by big walking alien combat mechs are bound to be less receptive to the brainwashing. Yeah, they're making you live like rats for your own good. Worship them! Not likely.
