I love the main actors (Lost, Walking Dead) and this is the reason I gave it a shot. But after 4 episodes I had hardly seen any sci-fi and pretty sure I never saw an alien and isn't this what it is about? I'm not waiting until season 3 before they show the aliens.

The show is more about occupation and resistance than the alien invasion. The invasion happened. It is old news. The aliens are in charge. What do we do now?

Also, why expend resources controlling the humans when you can get other humans to do it.

To me, this show is what Falling Skies wanted to be (but failed).

Where is the backstory? How have these humans bern recruited to ruthlessly control and police other humans?

I think the original V TV series is superior to this and Falling Skies it is just a shame they messed up with the remake.

It seems like they are working up to the backstory and the hows and whys, but they've been teasing bits and pieces through out the show. Even though we still don't know much about the aliens, I for one like it that way. I look forward to discovering it in small doses, rather than having it all dumped on us at the beginning.

spoiler:

first alien and ships appear at the end of s1 and beginning s2

Technically we have seen them, but they were in full body suits. We have no idea what they actually look like. There are even theories that the Raps are machines; i.e. that the drones are them, and the suited ones are simply human-shaped drones designed to interact with us. I don't personally think that's the case but it's possible. The resistance killed one trying to capture it at the end of season 1. Nothing they had though, including cutting torches and lasers, could get through the suit to see what was underneath. In the end they had to abandon the corpse to the occupation - but not before they took a device off its arm, the gauntlet Broussard's group had. That's where it came from.
