See above, I have not been able to find any announcement from IFC, any of the creators, or on DN!'s social media accounts that the series has ended. Like Fargo, Feud, etc, there has traditionally been a gap of several years between seasons and season announcements but series are not supposed to be listed as ended unless there has been an affirmative statement that the series will not ever go back into production.

Every series is assumed to be returning until an official cancellation/end or after an abnormally long hiatus (TV Bible link) and it's been an abnormally long hiatus without any news for "Documentary Now!"
This series was renewed for seasons 2 (aired in 2016) and 3 (aired in 2019) before the first season even premiered in 2015. It was then renewed for season 4 (aired in 2022) soon after the third season ended in 2019. Considering the renewals were announced very early, and it's going to be 2 years after season 4 ended without any news of a renewal, that seems like enough time to meet the abnormally long hiatus criterion for changing the status.
Feud's status was changed to "Ended" in 2020 due to years without any news. Once the second season was announced in 2022, the status was changed back to "Returning Series."
