Discuss ERASED

Item: ERASED

Language: en

Type of Problem: Design_issue

Extra Details: Sorry for all the threads but can we unlock the airing status? Seems counter productive to lock it at "returning series" https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/65249-boku-dake-ga-inai-machi/edit. The series is bound to end after 12 episodes.

Given the close, that's a no? I'm not talking about changing it now - but I don't see the need to lock it. I'll love to check back after those 11 remaining episodes to check if it worked...

Someone unlocked the status so consider this completed.

Great troll. After this request was marked as completed it was locked again. Looks like at least two mods think alike? Curious to the reasons.

I changed the title to Erased since we, like IMDb, normally avoid stylizing English titles.

As for keeping it locked or unlocked, I won't decide on that. Keeping it locked is what is recommended though since that makes it impossible for any user to sabotage the entry. Just my 2 cents.

We had a discussion about that once for Parasyte but either the thread has been removed afterwards or hidden (I can't find it anyways)... Travis himself changed the title to the official stylization and locked the entry. See https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/61459-kiseij-sei-no-kakuritsu/changes @01/06/15 http://i.imgur.com/XBE7GJy.png. For this show here they have always been refering to it in all caps so I'd argue for keeping it the way the official licensee has it.

And for the lock: I get the sabotage aspect - but why? 1) it was never vandalized. at that time it has only been edited twice, both being moderators of TMDB 2) it makes no sense to lock something that is only a temporary status. it only has a high chance to be forgotten whomever did it in the wrong state. [we are referring to the airing status being "returning" and not any of the other locks]

Maybe that was an exception to the rule. Caps Lock titles are not really used here (even though there must be a few in the database for certain).

I don't disagree with you, but it's always that matter of stepping on toes if someone else made a different judgement. So that's why I stay out of it this time.

The search isn't bringing much up except another whine thread from me referencing said thread (were travis suggested that if it's official it should be that way) https://www.themoviedb.org/talk/551ec8f0c3a3682eaf002ebd :))

As for the exception to the rule, I don't see any rule written down that asks for standard capitalization. Imho the producers/license holders/publisher/etc. should be the one to choose how they want their product to be displayed; even if it's all caps.

Some examples: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0488477/ XXXHOLiC (IMDB even goes all caps) / https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/36250-xxxholic

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120907/ eXistenZ / https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/1946-existenz

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0329774/ xXx: State of the Union / https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/11679-xxx-state-of-the-union > Title locked.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3382888/ H8RZ / https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/348955-h8rz > Title locked.

https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/8329-rec (all caps were IMDB doesn't do that) > Title locked.

(ERASED was also locked before)

I also think it's not a matter of stepping on someone else's toes. The lock is counter productive, it's just a principal thing that it should remain unlocked unless there is really a reason to close it down (given that it's an open and community driven database).

You convinced me. I will be gone for the next 10 days so if something happens during that time someone else is responsible! :)

Just a small note. The show has ended a week ago and it was still on "returning series". That is exactly why it should never been locked in the first place :)...
