I'm not sure that this show should be split in seasons. The official sites (https://www.france.tv/france-2/envoye-special/ and https://www.francetvinfo.fr/replay-magazine/france-2/envoye-special/) only list episodes by date without numbering.

For the episodes list, the best source is the Inathèque.

I have asked another moderator for his advice.

Given the number over the years it will be not manageable without season by calendar year or by "aired" season from September to June. This is the same as other News shows Like Cash investigation or Complément d'enquête.

Not exactlyn for "Cash Investigation", they are speaking of seasons here and here.

I have done "Complément d'enquête" before being promoted as a moderator and I'm not sure that I have done it correctly.

We will wait for the advice of the other moderator.

I have to agree that, for this specific type of series, year-based seasons make sense. Maybe we could think of something to add to the bible.

TV5Monde, who broadcast the series internationally, appears to use (imperfect) seasons:

Thx, will you reassign the seasons to the proper order number. Season 2016 is currently on 9 but must be on 27. This should not be locked if you want that I start to entre data backwards. TV5 is using the same methodology as France 2. Season start after the summer break and last until June next calendar year.

Thx, I did not say I will use the TV5 Monde airing data, that was just an example how they noted the season, eg season 2020 (from Sept 20 to June 21).

With exception of the Season 27 (2016-17) I have seen that all others have episodes from calendar year. The show started in January 1990 though. Would that make sense to continue on season as calendar year? Then the 2017 episodes in season 27 must be shifted to 28. Let me know that I start backward correctly. thx

If the show is broadcasted from September to June with a break in the Summer, it's best to create seasons going from September to June.

If the show is broadcasted all over the year without break, it's best to create seasons going per calendar year.

But, taking in account that this series is currently split per calendar year, this is easier to contijnue this way.
