I think it's still possible that Jack could have died either on the way to Rebecca's show, OR after he left the place where they were performing. I think it's possible that she imagined things going differently that night, from taking him home, to the fight, to the speech he gave her at the end. He could have been giving her the closure she needed via a dream sequence, maybe she really did ask him to leave the place they were performing at instead of calling the entire tour off. Him passing away that night would still line up with Kate saying that it was her fault. Plus Jack appeared to be wearing all black in that final scene. It seemed strange that she let him leave after all the things he said. The speech seemed like it sounded somewhat final. This would also explain why the finale felt lackluster, because we didn't know that he had already passed. What do you guys think?

Honestly, I don't think so. The show is pretty much grounded in reality and that would be a stretch. My feeling is that night, sadly, is the the beginning of the end of the happy marriage - and Kate feels like she pushed it to that point.

I mean... wasn't Randall imagining himself talking to Jack while he was on shrooms? Didn't Randall have a dream that Jack and William were laughing and talking about him? Didn't we see William meeting his mom in heaven? Didn't Randall envision Rebecca going around locking doors to make sure the family was safe? I don't think a dream sequence is out of the realm of possibility here. It wouldn't be the first time is all I'm saying.

I have seen theories of him passing away that night. Maybe she did take him home, but maybe he died in his sleep there? It seemed eerie how she slowly walked down the steps and there is light there; it seemed off. Plus, Jack's expression...I would like to think that he really was on his way to Miguel's. As an aside, I have always felt that Rebecca didn't love him as much as he loved her. I think she was just being practical. He truly loved her.

I agree. Especially about the brightness. When he finally leaves the sun was shining through the window, kinda heavenly looking but I could be reading too much into it. He was also wearing all black during that final scene and his hair seemed neater or something (I can't put my finger on it) which I found pretty interesting.
As for your second point, I think it's pretty common for one spouse to love harder or better most of the time and I definitely think that Jack is an example of this. Rebecca had a passion for music before she met Jack, so being with him meant that her entire life changed. I think that much of her love for Jack was rooted in the fact that he's such a great husband and father, but sometimes you can love your spouse/children and still yearn to have your own accomplishments. A lot of people are calling it selfish, but I don't think so at all. She fell in love with a great guy, but it didn't mean that she necessarily wanted to give up who she was. But having three children left no room for her own desires. She didn't even want children in the first place and probably held onto a little suppressed resentment. I assume that a part of her was always longing for something else and that's where the 'selfish vibes' are coming from. Dreams mean a lot to people. In the end, she could never be fully satisfied. Not even after having such a great husband.

Brilliant! I did not even think about the last scene being a dream sequence! Makes perfect sense! We will see.

I don't really see it as a dream sequence. @tiffanysedits.com regarding your example, it all happened because he was on shrooms tho. I don't think they would do all this while Rebecca was dreaming. I dunno. I'm like almost everyone here and other threads, this didn't feel like a finale. I'll probably see it again just to see if i missed anything. but yeah it just felt like another episode.

Many are speculating because he was wearing all black. I think it's my screen or my eyes, but he looked to be wearing navy; all cleaned up and looking good. Also, A lot of folks keep mentioning he didn't sleep outside the bedroom door. What is he, the family dog? maybe the man slept on the couch. I don't want to believe this is a dream sequence. I prefer to believe he said what he said and was on his way to Miguel's. Maybe he died when teaching Kate to drive. She hit the tree where some of his ashes were spread; hence his memorial there. It just seems odd, the things they said, for it to have been all in her mind as she held her necklace and cried.
