Not sure about Sonequa Martin-Green from The walking dead will work out as the main charcter but I felt the same way about Cap Janeway and she quickly won me over. But a woman Captain too. And a gay charcter. I've heard many comments about the show bending over backwards to be PC...how about a transgender charcter, lets go for it.

I'm so very tired of the earth shaking importance of gender and sexuality. It has become tedious.
This new Trek will be easily skipped.

Star Trek was always good at being diverse without making a big issue out of it. Hopefully Discovery will take this root.

I don't think you understand what Star Trek is. The entire point of having a Japanese guy, a Russian guy, and a black woman on the bridge in TOS was to break barriers. Although gays are being more accepted, Star Trek has never had an openly gay main character, but I agree and transgender character would be more interesting.
As for Martin-Green she is probably the only optimistic thing about this show since Fuller left as show runner. If the show is bad it will be because it's badly written not because of her.

Does anyone remember these four words from TOS? Infinite Diversity Infinite Combinations.

I remember stories by people trying to write good stories. Not vehicles for pandering.

Has anyone seen Jason Isaacs in any of the trailers yet?

My question is, is this SITE too PC? I remember a post from someone about the show-runner saying they wanted to make LGBTQ stories, but it's gone now.

Why is it so difficult to understand that people want to see a reflection of themselves while watching a television show? And product advertisements.
When we step out of our homes and venture out into the real world, that's what we're faced with. The world isn't just made up of one race, gender, sexual orientation group, etc. of people.
For all those never before represented, they must find it refreshing and welcoming.
It's way beyond time to step out of the darkness and into the light. Star Trek, in my opinion has always been about diversity and standing up for and preserving differences.
