Discuss Star Trek: Discovery

They say fan made, however this had some characters and actors from other Star Trek iterations. Axanar was set between Enterprise and TOS and from what I read that it was more in line in tone and continuity to Star Trek universe than this series. The reason it is not a hit or anyone have heard of it was due to a lawsuit made by CBS against the creators of Axanar. Apparently this fan made film gained some much popularity that it started to make money and apparently had merchandise, which was a violation of terms of service of a contract established by CBS, in addition it was allegedly becoming more popular than the JJ Abrams films, so CBS and Paramount crushed it and then established a new terms of service agreement that was so restrictive that it was not worth making a quality fan film. Has anyone seen the Axanar film? Even though I have not seen this however from what I have seen I find the Axanar fan film more interesting than Discovery, it seems like Discovery is trying to reboot Star Trek TV universe and eliminate the original time line.

I haven't seen the fan film, but seems like the Enterprise series already screwed things up. From the sound of things in the TOS episode "Court Martial," it appeared like Kirk was first to deal with the Axanar...ians? But in Enterprise they changed it so that Archer made first contact.

This may take place during the Klingon War with the Federation, Archer may have made first contact, however they might have been at war during the continuity of this fan film, regardless we will never know because CBS crushed the production of the fan made series.

I think they only ever made Prelude to Axanar, which you can watch on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1W1_8IV8uhA

Great what fans can do these days!

You know its pretty bad that the only way fans can get anything that resembles "classic trek" is to make it themselves. And what gets me is they actually have some decent actors in these fan films. I would even watch the ones with horrible acting over re-watching JJ movies. You know its funny film critics are suppose to be the "Guardians of Cinema". But there totally o.k. with giving something a nostalgia pass regardless if its written like crap. As long as they looks like they use to. Even if the characters act 100% different. I don't dislike JJ Movies because its not Star Trek. I dislike the JJ movies because there not good. Especially from a story telling perspective. If it was good and not star trek. Then i could take "the good" as a consolation prize.

I've saw youtube videos about Axanar and it looked more genuinely Star Trek than Discovery.

The Klingons look bizarre in Discovery. Also, Spock now has an adopted sister?
