Discuss Star Trek: Discovery

I post this here because of the smart politcal posters . I have noticed at least 3 shows on network Tv that apears to be doing some politcal propaganda. Salvation - CBS, Timeless, Designated Survivor All 3 of these shows have a "Elon Musk" charcter and in all 3 they are non white. After Robert Downy gets to old to be Tony Stark we can have Cedric the entertainer play him. Comments..............

So far that seems to be true. It's amusing to see Democrats like Pelosi arguing that people should vote for them to get LOWER paychecks.

Let me just say that I hate Pelosi and the establishment Democrats more than anyone, but let's be honest here, Trump is not doing a good job at all. His biggest accomplishment was signing legislation that stole money out of my pocket and your pocket and gave it to the super rich.

Last month (January) the cost of living went up. Gas prices went up. Renting costs went up. The price of food went up. And this month the stock market, which everyone praises Trump for, fell hard.

On the bright side I did see an increase in my wages this year, but that's because my union negotiated for that increases. Meanwhile Trump and Republicans are trying to give worker's tips to their employers and is trying to destroy unions with the Orwellian "paycheck protection" law in my state.

Last year he repealed an Obama-era law that prevented mentally ill people who couldn't handle their own money the right to buy a gun. He's basically in favor of TPP now. He's trying to make cuts to Medicare and Medicaid and SNAP. He allowed Net Neutrality to die despite the majority of people being in favor for it. I hate the weak Democrats but they're not nearly as big of a threat to our way of life as Trump's administration is.

If you are pro Trump and you are okay with all or most of the above things he's done, then congratulations because you must be a millionaire.

So many refutations, but I don't have the time or interest. So I'll just mention one example, Pelosi herself filed her taxes early, under the old law, to save money.

That's why I'm giving money to Stephen R. Jaffe to primary her corporate butt. Her, Dianne Feinstein, Joe Manchin, they're done for. The suckage of the Democratic party and their corporatism is coming to an end and it can't come soon enough. I am rooting for people like Jaffe, Alison Hartson and Paula Jean Swearengin to actually fight for people and not just take campaign donations to see on their butts and do nothing.

But pointing out how bad the Democrats are while not doing the same with Republicans is part of the problem. They're just as bad, just in different ways. I you defend them just because they're "on your team" then you really don't care about policy, you only care about the R or D in front of their name.

I guess you're among those who believe socialism hasn't really failed every time it's been tried, because - to you - it's never really been TRIED. So the problem with Cuba etc is not that they're too socialist, but that they're not socialist ENOUGH. Sad.

Oh, and I guess you're trying to get more "diversity" by running and voting for more old white guys, like Bernie Sanders. And Stephen R. Jaffe. And you know what? I bet he's also a multi-millionaire.

Things you currently enjoy that are the result of socialism:

*the military

*public education

*public police forces

*public fire department

*public libraries

*public infrastructure (roads, bridges, water/sewer systems, public parks, etc)

*Social Security

You don't know what you're talking about, you're just regurgitating right wing talking points. I'm surprised you didn't mention Greece. There is a right way and wrong way to implement polices. For example, every other major country has universal healthcare and free college. It works. If they can do it so can we.

Capitalism is great, but unchecked capitalism will lead to huge disasters. Deregulating everything is just as bad as too much regulation, you need balance.

Did... did you just virtue signal me? I don't care about diversity, I care about who has the right ideas. I don't care how old or white Bernie or Jaffe are, the're running on issues I agree with and care about. I don't care that Alison Hartson and Paula Jean Swearengin are white women, I like what they stand for and like the fact they don't take corporate cash.

I'm against every politician that's bought off no matter what race, gender, or political party they're in.

You have a very... expansive?... definition of socialism. It reminds me of "don't be so open-minded that your brain falls out."

I'll take your lack of retort as capitulation. "Socialism" isn't the boogeyman word it used to be since we are all obviously benefiting from various programs rooted in socialism.

And if by some chance you end up with a deadly illness in the future and can't afford treatment that you will suddenly think Medicare for All is a good idea if we don't have it already by then.

"People die because they can't afford treatment" is a popular bogey-man of the left. People get charity treatment all the time. And charity is not socialism.
