I set it as video content, but I don't think it should be merged with the Magi: Adventure of Sinbad series since it was released first.

But the OVA is part of the franchise which started out in 2012 (so per rules that marr envisions for this it would get tied to that I guess): https://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=rel&aid=10392

Well, I assume the other Sinbad entry was fine since you didn't report it? (edit: I figured adding it to the main one would be too confusing.)

The Sinbad one is a quasi prequel/spin-off so having it's own entry would be fine. I'm just not sure if anyone at that point would have considered those OVAs something else but specials to the TV show. Up to you ;).
PS: I'm only reporting when bothered, not going out of my way necessarily

I think we can bend the rules just a little bit when needed. They should all be linked with a universe at some point anyway.
