Just finished watching season 1. Great show. Lots of plot lines left open though. What happens with Brittany? Where does Callie go after being let go. Does Donald Cooperman recuperate to full capacity and will Lucy stay by his side?

Yes new season starts June 18th. Completely different story line. A few cast members return, Brittany and Patti, but no Cooperman, Callie, etc. His daughter, too, but not his wife.
IMDB says McBride is reluctantly drawn back into being a defense attorney for a friends son who is charged with murder. Lou Diamond Phillips joins the cast.
