a mini series belongs in the tv-section, you can add it to the movie section but it will be deleted there soon, we decided not to continue duplicate entries and all mini-series in the movie section will be deleted in summer
you are talking about mini series? But often we talk about very long movies which were aired in 2-4 parts.
That happened in German TV frequently only because of the broadcaster's choice in order to lift up the share of audience.
Nothing makes them a series but the fact of splitted broadcasting.
So often it's difficult to decide what's a series and what's a movie and so it's a good thing to have both entries.
In my opinion, deleting all the duplicate movies is a fatal decision and mostly will kill the better one. Consider to delete the tv section entry then.
I give you a few examples in which the movie section entries are so much better than the tv section ones.
Do you really think it's a good idea to kill the good work of users and weaken your content?
And please, do not say: you can add the better infos into the tv section. That will not happen, it didn't happen and why should it happen after deleting the better one. You have to colect the infos again and do the whole work again. That would be a very frustrating thing.
For me personally it would maybe be the end of contributing content at all. But that's my choice and not your problem.
Contergan (2007) 29677 vs. 5184
Das Adlon (2013) 162155 vs. 55664
Gotthard (2016) 402383 vs. 70130
Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter (2013) 178446 vs. 46849
Take a look and you will see what I mean.
Just another thought about this topic. Many users e.g. connect their films in Plex via TheMovieDB.
Deleting the entries will cut this and will bring them a lot of senseless trouble.
Plex will not find the entries in the tv section for movies and so they have to transfer them into another Plex-DB. What a pitty.
That's not my decision and I know what you are talking about I'm german and I know the special situation ( even I think there are other movies from other countries as well splitted in parts), but it was decided weeks ago and I think there will be a solution for media systems, I don't know Plex but if it is like Kodi you can grab the tv infos as well and sure the infos will be transferred to the tv entries before deleting
