Discuss Marvel's Inhumans

Overall, I am enjoying this series, but there are some things that just strike me as odd. These are the biggest ones that I can think of right now:

  • The Inhumans' knowledge of current human culture seems inconsistent. At times, they seem to be up to date with modern culture and slang. At other times, they don't understand simple societal constructs, such as paying for clothing.
  • This is a major spoiler for episode 4, so Spoiler Warning
We find out that the geneticist's private backer is none other than Maximus himself. How could Maximus not only come up with the financial means to fund this geneticist's work from the moon, but how would he have so much knowledge about what is going on with the terrigen outbreak on Earth prior to the series when Black Bolt first sends Triton?

The second one will possibly be explained by the end of the series, but the whole situation seems kind of odd to me.

I think some inhumans bother to study and learn about Earth and it's customs and some don't. It's like a hobby. He didn't pay for the clothes because he had no money.

The start of the series was not the first time Black bolt had sent people to get inhumans form Earth. It was mentioned in the episode.

Obviously he had no money to pay for the clothes, but the scene was presented as if Black Bolt had no concept of exchanging money for goods such as clothes. And the fact that he doesn't have money further supports my point about how odd it is that Maximus is apparently privately funding genetic research on Inhumans. How can he do that if the Royal Inhuman family doesn't have any earthly wealth, and how could he be transferring these non-existent funds to the doctor?

It's the good question, but it's the kind of thing that may well be made clear by the end of the season. Now, maybe it won't. Or maybe the explanation will be dumb. But that issue in particular I'm not going to judge until the end. Declan is clearly still part of what's to come, so there's time for a reveal about how this all came to be.

I see what you are saying on the money issue w/Black Bolt, but, then again, it's not all that clear how the scene would have played out meaningfully different even if BB DOES know about money.

The show has plenty of problems, but I don't see these particular issues as part of that...at least not yet.
