This show has me watching so many old interviews with Bette & Joan. Check this one out if you're a Davis fan:

Go to the thirty-minute mark and check it out. (Though the whole thing is awesome.) Bette said she never inhaled! Hilarious!

That is hilarious because you can hear it in her voice that she WAS a smoker. Even back when promoting Whatever Happened to Baby Jane you can hear it in her voice then. She smoked and she did inhale. Your voice doesn't begin to sound like that unless you're inhaling. This is something I've begun to notice (moreso in women), you can hear it in their voice...they begin to have a smoker's voice. Bette definitely had that.

Exactly! There's no way she spent all those years without inhaling! That was a good one, though. I'll give her that. Bette would tell a story until she actually believed it herself, I think. There will never be another Bette! She was awesome. ;)

There is a clip of her on Donahue in which she breaks out with cigarettes. Who is trying to fool w/that?

I watched that last weekend! Lol! Right? She smoked wherever she was, and nobody'd better tell her not to! grin

She'd really have a cow these days...you can't smoke anywhere. Too funny!

That's funny! Wether you inhale or not you're going to stink of smoke anyway, so you might as well inhale LOL.

I have a patient who claims she never inhaled, even though she's been smoking for 45 years. I found that pretty hard to believe, but a few months ago, I got a medical report and it said that her lungs are almost completely clean. I thought that was odd. I don't know Bette's case, she sure had the skin of a smoker (and this comes from my personal experience). As for the voice, I don't know. Booze can give you a voice similar to Bette's, isn't that correct?

Milo, it's possible for 2nd hand smoke people to have worst lungs than the smokers around them, so I guess it's quite possible.
