Forgive my ignorance...but what was up with the powder that Joan had put in her hair? And why did she do that?

I see now that she said she wanted everything silver...but still...even her hair? It would seem such an insecure actress wouldn't want to make herself look any older.

I saw a clip of the actual award and since it is in black and white she really did look like her hair had turned all grey. My guess would be that she wanted to be shocking .... and she was.

It was definitely strange. The more I watch this show...the more I see that Joan was strange. But that hair powder seen really left me wondering what the heck I was watching.

I definitely missed that scene. All I saw was Mamacita brushed her face w/powder.
