I watched the whole season today and now I'm bummed I have to wait for season 2 (hopefully!). I really enjoyed it! Another successful "dramedy" from Netflix and Jenji Kohan. I thought the cast was great and I'm hoping it gets picked up for more seasons.
Without spoiling anything, I can say that if you were ever a wrestling fan, or even remember the real life GLOW, you'll really like this show and I'd guess you'd like it even if you never watched wrestling. It's a great character driven show and since it's only 10 30-minute episodes, it never seems like it drags on.
Am I alone? Anyone else out there in the internet liked or didn't like GLOW?

Yes! I am so glad there's another fan out there. I was afraid there wouldn't be a post. I binged it this weekend also. This is one of those shows you have to watch for 2 or 3 episodes to fall in love with. I am not a wrestling fan, but I am old enough to remember the 80's when it was really big. And, all of the other 80's references - the music. It was awesome. As you can tell, I was still relevant in the 80's, so I could really get into it. This show reminds me of OITNB. You just love all the characters and can't wait for the next crazy thing they do.

I loved this show. I was a wrestling fan and my brother used to watch GLOW. It's been so long that I don't really remember much cause I was more into WWF. You would think that as a chick, women's wresting would have interested me more but not really. I really hope it gets a 2nd season cause it was good. All the actors gelled together and it felt natural.

I can think of a reason to like the WWF better.
So GLOW was a real thing back in the day? I didn't know that.

Yessssss the 80's nostalgia was in full effect and you are so right about OITNB... GLOW reminded me of it too with all the lovable characters and craziness, right down to the adorable, kind of annoying, in over her head, try-hard lead (I do still love Piper and Ruth was great!).
Yes, GLOW was real, believe it or not... what's funny is I remember watching it when I was young but don't remember anything about it. Thankfully YouTube is around to go back in time.

Loved the show, watched it in two sittings! Super fun and they nailed the 80s look!
And there is a documentary on the REAL Glow (also on Netflix)
... they did change a lot which I get, to make it a series that would work ... they did stay true to much of the heart of the subject.

Best show i´ve seen so far this year. Real underdog story. Alison Brie and Marc Maron absolutely shines in this. Great comedy too.. Excellent written.

I agree. I thought it was great. The writing, directing and acting were all top notch. It was better than anything you'll see in cinemas theses days. I also think the costume department and production designer deserve a lot of credit. They did a great job making everything look very 80s.

I remember watching GLOW as a child, but it ran when I was 5 to 9 years old, so I don't remember a lot about it. I just remember a few of the wrestlers: Beastie, Zelda the Brain, Mount Fiji and Little Fiji, and one of the "farmer's daughter" characters (there were 3 different ones according to the list on Wikipedia).
I like how the show created it's own characters while still being similar enough to see the inspiration taken from real GLOW characters (i.e. Britannica as an analog to Zelda). But shows and movies loosely based on real like like this always leave me wondering how much of the story was based on the real-life people involved and how much of it was completely fabricated for dramatic narrative.

I agree! The show is really great, I'm obsessed with the relationship between Ruth & Debbie and how they have to work together after everything they've been through. I don't even like wrestling and find it kind of stupid, but this show made me see it in a different light and I love everything about this show! Can't wait for more!

While I don't think it was amazing, it was entertaining. It's very well marketed so it's no surprise it was a hit. It merged a number of elements that are very popular right now - 80's nostalgia, strong female led shows like OITNB and unlikely, unique subject matter. And I think it's a show that will only get better as the budget grows.
