If you remember back to when Ren's boss was talking to that guy who led the soldiers after Reece (the guy with the ultrasonic shrieker box) they made several references to their leader, an unnamed "she". And now we've met her. Agent Ren became a liability when she started asking questions she shouldn't be asking and going places she shouldn't be going. The original migration went with some kind of master plan to keep the Apex from ever coming into existence. They don't want the world of the 21st century to find out there are time travelers in their midst.
I'm sure some of their plan involves killing people, possibly a very large number of them, and they can't afford to have anyone interfere. That's why they want the current migration to recant their stories and pretend they made up a lie to get into this country. The ones who are willing to play ball, they can use. The others I'm sure will be shipped elsewhere and suffer a tragic "accident" on the way to their destination - the bus plunging off a cliff or something like that. Look for them to go after Jude as well. Ren told her boss that she read him in, and they can't have a local running around who knows so much.
Still though ... what a bitсh! Shooting Ren in the back like that. I figured she was in her bedroom calling for backup, a SWAT team to bust down the door and take the overly curious agent into custody. I wasn't expecting that. Neither was Agent Ren clearly.

The agent getting shot was definitely a surprise for me. I hope she's ok. It looked like she was hit in the shoulder, but I'm not sure. Initially, I thought the earlier migration were people working with the Apex to expedite things along. It doesn't seem like their motives have been made clear just yet. If they are really trying to stop the Apex from happening, it seems that they could have just brought agent Ren into the fold verses shooting her. She certainly seems to now believe what the refugees have told her, and I think she could have been a valuable asset to their cause. I don't know.... everything is just so shady.

Heard that news last week and wasn't the least bit surprised. The so-called "big three" networks are dinosaurs who pander to the lowest common denominator. Mostly reality TV, talent competitions, and sitcoms that don't push the envelope too far. It's television for the masses. Any plot too complicated for the reality show crowd is too fancy for them, I knew from the very first episode they'd probably cancel it but still I'm surprised at how fast it happens these days.
The show's producers should've known better than to pitch their project to one of the old networks. They should've gone to Netflix, or Amazon, or even a basic cable network like AMC, USA, or Syfy. Think of the shows you've been watching for the past several years. Almost everything worth your time now is on cable or one of the streaming services. I'd be surprised if more than one of the old major networks survived long term. Maybe not even that. And good riddance too!

@chrisjdel ,
funny thing- I hadn't even heard of The Crossing until a relative told me about it and I said, " No I don't want to watch because it will probably get canceled." ...but I started watching anyways ......

Yea, this is definitely a bummer! It was an interesting plot. Something different and new and I really liked the pace of the show. I'm still shocked over Lucifer getting cancelled! I just did not expect that at all! Hoping a different network picks it up, but I saw the CW passed on it so who knows.
