I’m not attached to it, although I did have a preliminary round of conversations with them. I am interested in doing it. There are a lot of great stories to tell there. It is up to them. I don’t know really where they are in the stages of development. If I get the opportunity, great, otherwise some else will do it, and we can all see some more Judge Dredd. I did read the comics when I was a kid, as I teenager I read Judge Dredd a lot.
Their idea for Mega-City One is was basically to build the show around more rookie judges and young, new judges and Dredd would come in and out and I said that I’ll do it, but it has to be done in a meaningful way. I can’t just come on and grunt and pull faces, there has to be a story there for him. There has to be a kind of little arc and a story we are trying to tell. So, we will see what they do.
Sounds like Urban doesn't like it to be to an ensemble cast, but Rebellion shouldn't start from scratch just to please him.

That's just a long way around to saying that they haven't met his asking price yet!

Having it being an ensemble cast allows for his helmet to stay on and not have a humanized version.
It's unlikely to have Urban since it's not going to be a sequel to Dredd 2012, if he's in the role that would obviously confuse people, "Why is the aesthetic different?" , "Why is it a different universe?" , if he isn't in the role they can kick start this new universe in a fresh brand new way.
A TV show can't be written around an actor, so if Rebellion believe they have the best story possible for their series but Karl Urban doesn't like it then they should not adjust their approach just to please him, no actor should have a story written around them for them, think that falls into massive issues and you'll end up with something absolute garbage.

Urban saying he'll do depending if he likes it is the mirror of what Rebellion had been saying which is they would have him depending on his schedule because he's busy with other stuff like Amazon's The Boys.

If he's busy they should not limit Dredd's role than planned just to fit his schedule.

Most Dredd stories are an ensemble drama with a team of Judges like The Pit which the makers of the show can take a good look at.
