High school football player Spencer James gets a chance at a better life, playing for Beverly Hills High School.

Spencer and Jordan spend an unexpected day together back in Crenshaw where our Beverly Hills golden boy, Jordan, gets his first taste of real life in South Central LA. Meanwhile, Billy struggles with his identity as a father as Olivia and Layla attempt to rekindle their friendship. And Coop faces her own truth, coming clean to her parents about being gay.

The return of Layla’s music mogul father gives Spencer the perfect opportunity to give back to Crenshaw and reunite with an increasingly distant Coop. But Coop’s deepening affiliation with Shawn’s gang threatens Spencer’s good intentions. Billy, Jordan and Asher take a journey to Malibu to scout their next big rival as tensions simmer between Jordan and Asher.

At an explosive homecoming dance, friendships in both Crenshaw and Beverly will be put to the test when decisions made by Spencer trigger an avalanche that drastically changes the course of several lives. Meanwhile, Billy finds himself forced to spend some quality time with Grace and defend his decision to marry outside of the culture. Meanwhile, Coop realizes that getting Shawn out of gang life may come at a steep price for her.

Beverly has their big Homecoming game and the pressure is on. Post-dance, Spencer is feeling the weight of the effects of his arrival at Beverly… as well as his departure from Crenshaw… and tries to set things right. Meanwhile, Billy tries to bring together his team for a win that will send them to the district play-offs for the first time since he became head coach… But Billy discovers doing what’s right and winning aren’t always the same thing.

As Coop gets more involved in gang life, her relationship with Patience is tested, while Spencer is determined to find a way to help his community stop the violence that keeps occurring. Jordan is developing a relationship with his grandfather, which brings up family issues for Billy.

At a college recruiting event, Spencer’s former teammates from Crenshaw show up, which causes Spencer to lose focus. Olivia comes to Asher’s aid, while Jordan struggles with the opportunities that comes with being Billy Baker’s son.

Spencer wants no part of his father’s return and Billy confronts him about their tumultuous past. Meanwhile, Layla forces Asher to re-evaluate his life.

Spencer learns the real reason his father left when he was growing up and is devastated by the truth. Billy must deal with the repercussions of decisions he made in the past, while Coop tries to stop a plan she set in motion, with tragic consequences.

Spencer suffers a devastating setback and gets strength from an unlikely source. Billy, while focused on the championship game, realizes that he has to face some tough truths in order to get his family back.

Spencer is ready to get back to football in order to impress recruiters, but he must prove to Billy and Grace he is not pushing himself before he is ready. Coop is feeling smothered by everyone and makes a tough decision about her potential future. Meanwhile, Laura knows Jordan has a big heart but is concerned about his relationship with Simone.

When Spencer hears that South Crenshaw may turn into a magnet school, he and his friends decide to do something about it, but he might have bigger problems to worry about. Billy makes a decision about his future that surprises everyone. Layla is focused on trying to get Coop a tour for the summer but isn’t having much luck, so she comes up with a different strategy that makes everyone happy. Asher has an opportunity to spend the summer with his mom but isn’t sure if he should go. Meanwhile, Olivia struggles with what she will do over the summer and Jordan makes a Hail Mary in his personal life. Season finale.

Spencer finds himself on the defense after an interview he gave comes out, upsetting his old teammates; Coop and Layla return from tour; Billy is excited for a fresh start at South Crenshaw High.

Both Spencer and Billy are not getting the hero's welcome they expected from the football team and quickly realize they need to adjust their style and start earning the team's trust first.

With the first game of the season coming up, Spencer starts to feel the pressure on and off the field; Jordan realizes he needs to step up; Asher keeps trying to talk to Olivia about the summer, but she does everything she can to avoid the issue.

Spencer and the team rally around Chris; Laura is concerned about Olivia's sobriety; Jordan gets sidelined during a game; Layla hits a dead end with her lawsuit.

Things in Spencer's life seem to be going right, but everything changes when Billy learns what he has been keeping from him; Jordan and Asher get some unexpected news.

After the earth-shattering events of the Beverly and Crenshaw State Championship, Spencer also needs to come to terms what happened with Coop and Layla. Now he has the extra pressure of it being early national signing day for football and Spencer must make a major decision about committing. Meanwhile, Billy struggles to forgive Spencer about helping Jordan.

When Spencer receives some unsettling news about his future, Billy helps devise a contingency plan for him. Layla ( makes Patience an offer she wasn't expecting, forcing Patience to have a long overdue conversation with Coop. With the encouragement of Nurse Joy , Olivia contemplates taking on a new role in NA. Meanwhile, Asher's unwelcomed football advice helps JJ in an unexpected way.

The gang is ready to celebrate prom together, but Spencer finds himself fixing a mistake made by his teammates that could have some major consequences. Olivia struggles with how to connect with her sponsee, and making her take her sobriety seriously. Coop bails on prom prep with Patience to help Amina once again. Meanwhile, Asher finds himself spending his prom night a little different than expected, and Layla gets some sage advice from Jordan.

With Spencer's determination to protect his teammates from unjust punishment, he puts his own future at risk. Olivia and Layla question their post-graduation plans only to find the answers where they least expect it. Asher is too proud to ask for help to pay for his dream college and takes his frustration out on the people trying to help him. Coop makes a heartbreaking decision when it comes to Amina. Meanwhile, Billy and Laura deal with the aftermath of what happened to GW.
