Item: Ascendance of a Bookworm
Language: en-US

Episodes are numbered continuously on the official website. According to our anime rules, all episodes should be added to a single season.

Yes, and on that same site it's also clearly listed as 第1期, 第2期, 第3期 which roughly translate to season/part 1, 2 and 3. Not a single season that "had a hiatus" of 2 years.

As indicated by @raze464, as long as the episodes are numbered continuously, they should be added to the same season.
This is already explained in multiple previous reports.

This should be changed. I don't want to be "that guy", but the show was released as 3 separate seasons on bluray, just have a look on amazon, plus their official site clearly says they are separate seasons, and so do anime-planet and myanimelist, and pretty much every single other source out there, just because the website decided to number the episodes as a whole series continuously, doesn't mean they are all 1 season, especially not if they explicitly say they are 3 separate seasons.. So they should in fact not be added to the same season, they should be split up into 3 seasons, because they are 3 seasons. The only source that I've seen that doesn't do this, is crunchyroll, but for all we know they get their metadate from here.
Edit: the metadata between themoviedb and crunchyroll seems to be identical, so one is using the other as a source, and whoever the source is in this case, is wrong. case in point: https://booklove-anime.jp/story/ just look at the top of the page, it doesn't matter how it's numbered

As per our rules, the KING is the way the episodes are originally numbered.

By that logic why does One Piece have 22 seasons? It's clearly numbered from 1~1088 in the official Japanese site: https://one-piece.com/anime/index.html
Your logic is flawed in one of the two shows.
"Furthermore, international releases of anime series often have episode orders, episode counts and season splits that are wildly different from the original Japanese release. International broadcast should not be used as templates for anime."
And it doesn't even wait 2 whole years before "continuing its season".

As indicated in the content reports of that show, the seasons will be merge at a later date by the administrator.
We are going as per the Japanese original broadcast who number the episodes continuously.

@superboy97 Even though each episode on the official website of Attack on Titan anime has its own separate number, it is still divided into multiple seasons on TMDB. This is done to avoid confusion and provide accurate reference for people. TMDB aims to provide correct information rather than adhering to a rigid rule. In this matter, it's evident that the setup of Attack on Titan is done better. Attack on Titan is on our list of animes where the seasons need to be merged. This will be done by the administrator at a later date, not yet defined.
