They've confirmed that they'll be releasing an update of the final episode this week to give it a conclusive ending, so I'm proposing (like Sense 8, for example) that the series' status be changed to Ended.

The existing season 4 finale that aired 2 weeks ago is being updated to become a series finale; there is no new episode being released. It was not announced ahead or planned that the series would end with season 4 so the series was canceled.

Now that the alternative ending episode has aired, how should it be added? As a special, a separate movie or will it replace the current season finale of S04?

Since it's an alternative version of a previously aired episode, probably nowhere.
