There were many men in Buffy's life. Who should she have chosen?
● Angel (not Angelus)
● Spike (bad boy)
● Riley Finn (should always wear a uniform)
● Xander Harris (friend zoned)
● anyone else?

I think she would have eventually chosen Spike had the series continued on (they are now together in the comics, at least for the time being). I think they understood each other on a deeper level than any of her other relationships. She and Angel had that passionate first love going on, but her relationship with Spike was a whole other ball of wax. They were dysfunctional; they'd seen each other at their absolute worst and their absolute best and every variation in between, yet still managed to create a bond that wasn't necessarily romantic but somehow ended up with mutual trust and respect.

I always thought Spike was more of a rebound vampire, until it became complicated and serious. Could it have lasted? I would hope that it doesn't end like in the Twilight Trilogy. If there's ever a sequel, Buffy should once again be alone, and she should have learned a valuable lesson from her past failed relationships, so that she can finally find the right person to share her life with.

Angel. He is her Dark Knight. He makes her feel normal & safe, doesn't judge her, comforts her and most of all listens to her. They are fire & desire.
Spike was the rebound vampire because lets be honest, if there was no soul clause for Angel, that's who she would have been with. To be quite honest, its pretty sad that spike chooses women that will always chose Angel/Angelus first over him with the exception of Harmony. While I will agree Buffy needs to be alone to find herself, if she were to get into another relationship, he can't be human. She needs someone within her world that can handle themselves.
Those comics are a hot mess and a lot of fans dismiss them. Just because there are no limits doesn't mean you should put everything and the kitchen sink in it.

This doesn't make sense. I wasn't putting "everything and the kitchen sink" in it. It was just my perspective based on my view of the series. Same thing as you, honeywolf. I didn't say I liked the comics; I was a merely stating a fact from them. Like Angel all you want; it doesn't change my opinion or my perspective.

That comment was not directed toward you. That comment was about Joss & the writers. The show limited them in what they could do which was probably a good thing considering the comic storylines. As far as your opinion it's all good. I liked Spike as a character. I just did not like him with Buffy.

Sorry about the misunderstanding, I thought you were replying to me because you mentioned the comics. It's hard to tell with this board sometimes. I agree that the comics are a hot mess. lol. It's a good thing the series ended with Season 7 because if Season 8 had panned out the way the comics did, I wouldn't have liked it.

Angel was her true love. My second choice would be someone like Riley.

@Pirouette028 that's cool. When i heard about some of those story lines, I'm like since when the hell Buffy was a lesbian. I mean I know her relationships didn't end well but she's always been strictly dicky. Then we got Dawn & Xander like really? I would have rather have Dawn & Spike (in the future when she a bit grown) if they hadn't put him with Buffy.
Now I thought Riley, would have been good for season 1 Buffy. When she was naive and bit innocent. By season 4 she's a bit mature, been with a mature man & a better fighter. Riley wasn't gonna work long term, I saw it for what it was. He was insecure, needy and unfortunately Angel got there first.

Buffy would pick Angel no question about it. But really if I had to pick I'd say Xander should of been her first choice he was the one always by her side no matter what if you ignore that one horrible episode in season 7 but he quickly rushes back to her and loses an eye, but it remains the truth.

He was originally supposed to be her love interest but the chemistry between Sarah & David was electrifying right off the bat. No matter how Joss wanted to deny it. Plus Xander became very annoying after a while and that's not the type of dude Buffy need in a romantic sense.

Especially when he dated dawn. It was his girlfriend and nothing else mattered. The comics ruined most of the characters
