I really liked this show in the first season. Despite some weak parts in writing and weak characters the show was refreshingly funny with interesting ideas. Although the main reason I watched this was the hilarious performance of the one and only Alan Tudyk, which is absolutely brilliant in his comedic timing and ability to act out this unusual character. So season 1 was top game, I was eagerly waiting for season 2. However season 2 quickly became a letdown, around episode 3 I suddenly asked myself wtf am I watching. The story stopped being about alien adventures and shenanigans he causes in the small town, and started to focus on some identity politics and personal grievances. The writing became confused and unfocused, the jokes feel forced and silly, secondary characters that were bearable in small supporting roles were given much bigger part of the story and only emphasized how uninteresting they actually are. The show definitely lost its charm and I find it really hard to keep watching it. Hope it will improve.

Holy shit. You and I are 100% on the same page. I liked season 1, I didn't realize season 2 had aired so I started to catch up and got to episode 3 when they had all the women complaining about the goddamn wage gap (while the deputy admitted to never having asked for raise). Even the little boy and his Muslim friend had gender identity politics. I was watching this show to laugh, not to be lectured to about an issue that has been debunked more times than I can count or forced identity politics among children who would not give a shit at that age.
I'm done. I'll watch something else.

They roped us in with a alien sci-fi comedy for the first season, then it turns to How a town of Stella's got their groove back women forum. The new writers belong at Lifetime, not the SyFy channel. This is one of the main reasons Comcast/NBC is having so much trouble getting Peacock off the ground. They take a ip(in this case a comic book) and twist it and turn it into something else.
