The reason this is so messy and confusing appears to be the capitalization on the "Emmanuelle" brand, starting with the 1969 film "A Man for Emmanuelle" and the official "Emmanuelle" series that kicked off in 1974-- both based on the same novel. Similar to Amityville, you can't trademark a name, so many films have been renamed or outright named an off-shoot of "Emmanuelle" in order to get people to watch their film. "Black Emmanuelle," however, is the second official "Emmanuelle" series before 74's "Emmanuelle" and French made-for-TV films in 1993.
