I know the game had a Sci-Fi plot. But frankly it didn't make sense in the Game either. I mean really DNA storing Memories of your ancestors?? Frankly the most interesting parts of this movie had to do with the 14th Century Assassins and Templars. All the other stuff was kinda "mah".

I always felt the same way about the games. It's just a stupid concept.

It works fine as a sci-fi conceit if you don't focus on it too much. The problem is that the more you expose how it's supposed to work, the more obvious it becomes that of course it doesn't work, and the more you take people out of the movie. They should have kept it as vague and unobtrusive as possible. They didn't even need the sort of machine they showed. He could have just been lying on a hospital bed with medical stuff stuck to his body or a helmet zapping "genetic memories" into his brain or whatever.
There's a way to make it work, but that requires that the writer and director and editors know what they're doing, and clearly they didn't on Assassin's Creed.
But also you can't take out the present-day, science fiction stuff. That's what makes it Assassin's Creed. If you don't have that stuff, it's just a pseudo-historical movie.

I believe that in the game. The machine was like a bed. But i guess that wasn't cinematic enough.

Yeah... I think they're pushing epigenetics a bit too far with this game/movie (even though I suspect the were not even familiar with the concept to begin with).

Agreed. The best action set pieces were in the 14th century. All the other stuff was just kinda there and I kept wondering why Michael K Williams wanted to even do this in this first place.
I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here-https://youtu.be/Um2-B6Gs_QU

Yeah. I watched it and I have no fucking clue wtf was going on. It's just s stupid concept. A simple period film set back in the medical days would have made so much more sense. Idk wtf they were doing. It's such an easy movie to make. They seriously made in overly complicated for no reason at all

I never liked the present day/future stuff in the game either. But the biggest problem with the film was that this was where the whole story took place. We only dipped into the past for an action set piece now and again. The main story should have taken place in the historical setting. This is where the appeal lies. The film completely missed the point. The present day bits should be there to bookend, if at all.

Don't play videogames, just war-game last century....but I absolutely loved the movie mostly because of the awesome combination of Jed Kurzel's musical score set against the hazy regression sequences directed by his brother Justin Kurzel.

To make this film there was everything: money (and lots!), a stellar cast, special effects ... but the result is not positive. Park jumps, battles, confusion, and an unlikely plot. Ok science fiction, but there is a difference between fantasy and absurdity. I'm a gamer (but not this one) but I didn't like it at all. Note the 15 minutes of final titles.
