Nick Nolte is not an actor whom I always enjoy greatly - while he can be very good indeed, he has a gruff screen persona that grates on me at times. But he really nailed the part of the war photographer caught up in the Nicaraguan revolution in 'Under Fire'. A truly superb performance, ably matched by Joanna Cassidy, Gene Hackman, Jean-Louis Trintignant and Ed Harris. The film is a little ragged at times but very watchable, helped along by a splendid score by Jerry Goldsmith. 7/10.

I've heard good things about his performance in this but never took the opportunity to see it. I have the next couple of days off so I will rent it.
