Russian Empire. The turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Thirteen-year-old nobleman and orphan Vanya Ogarev flees from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod, fleeing assassins sent by his own uncle, who decided to take possession of the boy's inheritance. To protect himself, Vanya hires a random fist fighter named Volchok. The top must help Vanya get safely to Nizhny - his father's faithful friend is waiting for him there. But the whole event is bursting at the seams from the very beginning: the dreamer, aristocrat, esthete Vanya and the uncouth, gloomy man Volchok can barely stand each other from the very beginning. Ahead of them lies a dangerous journey that will change them both forever.

Российская империя. Рубеж XIX и XX веков. Тринадцатилетний дворянин и сирота Ваня Огарев бежит из Москвы в Нижний Новгород, спасаясь от убийц, подосланных его собственным дядей, решившим завладеть наследством мальчика. Для своей защиты Ваня нанимает случайно подвернувшегося ему кулачного бойца Волчка. Волчок должен помочь Ване добраться в целости и сохранности до Нижнего — там его ждет верный друг отца. Но все мероприятие с самого начала трещит по швам: фантазер, аристократ, эстет Ваня и неотесанный, хмурый мужик Волчок с самого начала едва выносят друг друга. Впереди их ждет опасное путешествие, которое навсегда изменит их обоих.
