Item: Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared
Language: en
Type of Problem: Incorrect_content
Extra Details: I'm reposting this because for some reason it was posted under "General" rather than "Content Issues".
This is that post:
Should Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared be a series of short film (and hence movie) entries on TMDb? Or should they be treated as episodes of a web series (and hence, put in a tv entry on TMDb)?
Right now it's the former. But should it be?
On the official kick starter (that seems to have funded the production of Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared 3 to 6), the videos are repeatedly referred to as "episodes" (with a quick search, seemingly 65 mentions of the word "episode"): https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1127979050/dont-hug-me-im-scared-the-series/description. Is this reason to believe it should be treated as a web series?
On the official google plus account the banner reads "DHMIS" and under that "NEW EPISODES COMING...". On November the 1st, 2014, a post was also made that reads: "Happy Halloween!! here's Episode 3........" :https://plus.google.com/u/0/101426116561447199707. Is the use of the word "episode" not indicative of an episodic nature of the videos- and hence not as individual movies but as part of one (tv) series?
Or, is it because the videos have been shown and won awards in film festivals that they are considered a series of short films? Or can videos be considered "episodes" and "episodic in nature" when they are part of a short film series?
Just curious, especially since, there is a TVDb entry on DHMIS.

As far as a can tell, the first two shorts are films (see the opening and ending credits of Don't Hug Me I'm Scared II). But 3 to 6 seems to be more a bit more episode-like (e.g. they all have "Don't Hug Me I'm Scared" as the opening title).
I would keep them as short films though. They don't seem to be "officially" released as episodes.

Just confirming,
...means that they belong in the db in the first place, right?

Yes! The details are blurry, but I believe they are at least partially available on the Channel 4 website.

But it shouldnt be listed as a tv series on this site, right? Was that the conclusion? Some people have since edited the entry (https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/86328-dhmis-tv) that was meant to be for the new TV series that was in production in 2019 (a pilot was aired at the Sundance Film Festival in 2019?) and changed all the details/added details to make it an entry for all the webisodes/short films released on youtube starting back in 2011 and the latest one being released in 2016. So now the content is duplicated in the movie and tv section, which is not supposed to happen right/needs to be fixed?
Additionally, a new entry has been made recently (2022) for the TV series (when there already was one? the one I linked above) here: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/206013-don-t-hug-me-i-m-scared. So that entry is also a duplicate but in a different way. Anyway, I think this new entry is a duplicate of the old tv entry and that the information of the youtube releases added to the old tv entry should be removed. I also made a duplicate report here: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/206013-don-t-hug-me-i-m-scared/discuss/63307947d38b58007bfc135b. Am I wrong?

I assume from the lack of response... were keeping it as both a web series and individual movie entries? Is that the decision (and how come)?
