Sisterhood
Rome - New York - Beirut
Overview
Sisterhood takes a closer look at the women playing in three basketball teams, leading different lives and share the love for this sport, often considered as a male-only sport, especially because it brings them closer to other women. Communities of women who, beyond their common passion, are all different with regards to their ethnic origins, culture, religion, social class, age, gender identity and sexual orientation. Shatila Refugee Camp: Real Palestine Youth FC, involving Palestinian girls born in the camp as well as some Lebanese girls who joined the team. Rome: Les bulles fatales play in the court of a social center. Their motto is: do not call us mums. NYC: cradle of basketball. Ladies Who Hoop is a group of women from different age and ethnic groups who all share the same passion for basketball. Simply by their presence and in the way the relate to each other, women in these communities question social norms and roles embedded in our society.
