本作原案来自于2016年播放量超过6000万的油管视频：患有阿尔茨海默症的泰德与他的儿子在驾车时的唱歌模样。这段真实故事让泰德在80岁时以CD出道，成为英国最年长的新人歌手。本作则将故事背景转移到日本，以神奈川横须贺的父子为主角，讲述了曾梦想在年轻时出道为歌手，但为了儿子放弃梦想的父亲间宫哲太的故事。哲太在他出生和长大的横须贺经营着一家乐器店，并在当地的舞台上展示他的歌声。有一天，他被诊断出患有阿尔茨海默症，将要失去一切记忆的父亲被他的儿子雄太、妻子律子、深厚情谊的友人们以及他所热爱的音乐紧紧联系在一起，哲太再次为实现唱片出道的梦想而努力。
