Antoine Rivière, a highly-reputed psychoanalyst, is visited by a new patient, Edouard Berg. When Berg claims to have killed his own wife, the doctor suspects he is a compulsive liar. How could he know that he has been caught in a trap and it's already too late for escape?

Antoine Rivière, psychanalyste ambitieux et célèbre, commet un jour deux erreurs. La première est d'accepter Edouard Berg en analyse, la seconde de le garder. Son patient prétend avoir tué sa femme et le psychanalyste ne sait s'il a affaire à un mythomane ou à un meurtrier. De toute facon il est déjà trop tard pour se poser la question et Edouard Berg entraîne tout l'entourage d'Antoine Rivière dans son jeu pervers.
