This is a great film and very few are familiar with it. The sword work is some of the best on film. Goo story and great cinematography. Would love to get my hands on a DVD of this one, but most are coded for European play. Kino Lorber used to have the rights to reproduce but they stopped. If you know how to get it, please let me know.

I gave it a 7/10, a good examination of the idiocy of 'honour' and of people being obsessively antagonistic to others. I thought Keitel was excellent in this and it is one of my favourite scenes with the panorama and strings.
I've read all Conrad's early work but don't appear to have this one in my collection, which I must remedy.

This is an incredible film! Gorgeous cinematography, solid acting, good story. It calls to mind Barry Lyndon, but with more pacing and action, and at a tenth of the cost. The final shots are so beautiful. And to think, this is Ridley Scott’s debut feature film, to be followed by Alien and Blade Runner. Wow.
