I like what they did with the accents in this film... the way it starts out with Tom Cruise speaking German, with subtitles and then it transitions to him speaking English in his natural accent...
Better than ignoring the native language of the character altogether and better than having a butchered accent...

Clear and Present Danger had a similar scene, which was pretty cool.

Generally they use british actors to represent foreigners. "Enemy at the Gate" has British accents for Russians and that sort of drove me crazy as I identified them as British, not Russian.
