Billy Wilder is my favourite movie maker. While Some Like It Hot is not among my favourites, the last line from this movie - "Nobody's perfect!" - is what Mr. Wilder himself requested by written on his epitaph, so there is something about the spirit of this movie that captures the essence of Wilder like no other of his many great films.

I just saw that Criterion is due to release this in 4K (finally!) so I raced here to see if anyone has mentioned that awesome last line. Looks like you beat me by 8 years lmao
Ever since I saw this movie I've been mildly obsessed with the packed meanings in that last line. If you ask me, it's as significant as "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn" or any of the classic curtain droppers.
On the surface is the unexpected gag that Osgood isn't budged by the big reveal which Jerry/Daphne had spent half the film hiding. Secondary is the line on its own "I'm a man... Nobody's perfect!" giving us a fun self-deprecating dig at men for being the flawed sex, but the third loaded surprise is that Osgood is basically saying he's willing to go gay for Jerry! Whereas in context with the times we might expect a hammy homophobic "Yeeeech!" to end the show, instead we're basically getting a resoundingly pro-LGBTQ statement slid right under the radar of the Hays Code & conservative 1950s crowds. I hardly think there were any protests because who could protest a hilarious ending like that, but all the same, it's pretty much in your face!
