这里的京城挂着白色的彩虹，随后又发生了各种各样的变故，人们被不安的心情所困扰。当时天皇朱雀帝因人心紊乱而心痛，天文学家加茂保宪下令解读中国秘传书金乌玉兔集，查明事件的原因。保宪有阿倍保名、芦屋道满两位高弟，但保宪认为在养女榊面前勤劳的保名将由加茂家继承。另一方面，通往保宪后室的道满得知此事，让家臣恶右卫门暗杀了解读秘书后打算前往皇宫的保宪，夺走了秘传书。而且把罪名推给了保名和榊。被判无罪的榊因过于痛苦而自杀，失去所爱的榊的保名发狂，斩断后室夺回秘传书，为了寻找榊的身影而踏上了流浪之旅。
