The absolute king of weird 70s horror: Jean Rollin
Nothing like it. A strange blend of art cinema, French New Wave, grindhouse, Euro sleaze and porn. He was actually a brilliant artist & writer but the only way he could get his films funded was to throw in blood, nudity & cheese which he did in the most artistic way, if that's possible. He's finally getting noticed after Kino remastered his catalogue.
Maybe start with his most digestible films Lips of Blood or The Living Dead Girl.
