.. offer to pay 1000$ for someone he just met ? And when she asked him "how do you know I'm going to pay you back?" he simply said "when did you not pay me back" or similar.
I like the movie, and I get it, this scene at the beginning was necessary to get the movie going, but still.. doesn't make sense..

well I can see that.. still doesn't make sense. He's not over his ex, why would he hit on a woman he just met ? and if he's looking for a one night stand.. well, for 1000$ I'd say he could get someone even hotter, no ?

He's not looking for a quid-pro-quo... rather, it's that good looking people are seen as trustworthy and others have more empathy towards them...
Also, it's a movie... they can show extreme or unusual behaviour...
