Wow, Park Chan-Wook surely knows what he is doing. He was great from the start but it seems that in the last few films he absolutely mastered his art and now stands tall as a cinematic giant, only few in the world right now that can reach his level. He takes you on a trip, deep, perverted, sensual, stunning trip. You can't look away, everything is done so smooth, so symmetrical, so hypnotic. You can't feel the edges, there are no sharp corners, everything is silky, endless, waves of pleasure, the sweetest dream you can imagine. The hardest part is waking up, not being submerged into this vision of cinematic sensuality. It's a great experience, no doubt, this is why people love movies. And Park delivers here a masterpiece we are so eager to have.

This movie really is a towering achievement. Liked it just as much as Oldboy.

I liked it but I still think it will be hard to compare anything to the Vengeance trilogy.
The direction and cinematography are absolutely stunning though. He is a master for certain.

I loved it. The second part really took me by surprise as I didn't see it coming!

Superbly shot as ever by Park, but overblown as ever too. Less can be more. I'd love to see him handle more grounded source material, or step out of his comfort zone a bit. But he gives his fans what he wants I guess and is clearly considered excellent at what he does; although I'd argue that the titillation was a bit tiresome and the violence lacking bite.
To my mind this dissolved into the near absurdity and 'try-hard', stylised, shock tactics in the second and third parts, which was a bitter blow after a hugely promising 1st part. Park gotta Park I guess. Just short of my favourites by the director who is arguably just not "fully ripe". :p
