I just saw the trailer on Facebook, guessing that it's going to be out on youtube already. I'm wondering where they're going with the story on this one considering the IRA has not been relevant for about 2 decades +.

I saw the trailer... looks good but not great tbh.
About the film - it's based on a novel called "The Chinaman" which was published in the 90s so that's why it's about the IRA basically. I haven't read the book but I heard it's good.
That's why I was wondering if they were going to update it to Islamic extremists etc. I'm assuming most likely not as to avoid controversy, but if they stick with the original IRA story I think it'll just play out as being ridiculous.
Im excited about it. Jackie going back to more hardcore action and less PG comedy. But it does seem like a very generic story. But I actually think it will do well as long as they dont do something stupid.

It did seem a bit absurd, especially as they set it in contemporary times, rather than in a 1990s period setting... Would have worked so much better if they had set it in earlier times...
I mean, Scotland had a referendum, Spain has it's own issues, it's not really the right context for the movie's premise...
