The Second Battle of Ypres was fought from 21 April–25 May 1915 for control of the strategic Flemish town of Ypres in western Belgium, following the First Battle of Ypres the previous autumn. It marked the first mass use by Germany of poison gas on the Western Front. For the first time a former colonial force (the 1st Canadian Division defeated a European power (the German Empire) on European soil, in the Battles of St. Julien and Kitcheners' Wood. In the now established BHTV style, the BHTV Team join a selection of historians on the ground to explore the actions of Second Ypres and analyse the significance of what was the first former colonial victory on European soil, the first major use of a terror weapon and the knock on effects of the virtual destruction of the BEF. The team explain the bravery shown by the troops on the ground and the horrors they faced from the advancing German gas clouds.

De Tweede Slag om Ieper werd uitgevochten van 21 april tot 25 mei 1915 om de controle over de strategische Vlaamse stad Ieper in het westen van België, na de Eerste Slag om Ieper in de herfst ervoor. Het markeerde het eerste massale gebruik van gifgas door Duitsland aan het westfront. Voor het eerst versloeg een voormalige koloniale macht (de 1e Canadese Divisie) een Europese mogendheid (het Duitse Rijk) op Europese bodem, in de Slagen van St. Julien en Kitcheners' Wood. In de nu gevestigde BHTV-stijl sluit het BHTV-team zich aan bij een selectie van historici ter plaatse om de acties van Tweede Ieper te onderzoeken en de betekenis te analyseren van wat de eerste voormalige koloniale overwinning op Europese bodem was, het eerste grote gebruik van een terreurwapen en de domino-effecten van de virtuele vernietiging van de BEF. Het team legt de moed uit die de troepen op de grond toonden en de verschrikkingen waarmee ze werden geconfronteerd door de oprukkende Duitse gaswolken.
