The story of Grady, a former soldier who is in prison for his part in a major money-laundering operation. Whilst inside, he learns of the brutal, yet mysterious, murder of his brother, Christian. Desperate for answers, Grady makes a daring escape while attending Christian's funeral. Grady becomes a man with one mission in life, to avenge his brother's death - no matter what the cost. His only ally is his ex-lover Kate who reluctantly agrees to help him track down Christian's murderer. To solve the mystery, two more lives are put on the line. 格雷迪在监狱服刑期间，两个警察奥洛克和阔品钦押送带着手铐的格雷迪，去参加格雷迪哥哥克里斯的葬礼。回监狱的途中，克里斯跳河逃跑，艰难跑到了克里斯太太凯特家中，凯特也曾经喜欢过格雷迪。凯特开车带着格雷迪去找老朋友桑顿，桑顿没有帮助他们。于是凯特和格雷迪去了克里斯生前的家中。在克里斯家中格雷迪遇见了前来找东西的弗兰克，弗兰克告诉格雷迪，他哥哥生前在倒卖军火，在倒卖制作原子弹的重要部件的生意中，并没有提供给买家正确的零件，被一外交官杀死。格雷迪就放走了弗兰克。在克里斯家，无意中格雷迪发现了克里斯留下的线索，找到了克里斯留给他的录像带和护照等物品，录像带记录了克里斯被杀的全过程，也记录了过去三人在一起的美好时光，格雷迪和凯特感慨万千，发生了关系。第二天，格雷迪让凯特独自走，怕把凯特卷入这一切，就在这是，来了一个送货的人，送来了邮给克里斯的包裹。格雷迪打开一看，正是制造原子弹需要的部件——电子触发器。这时弗兰克带着外交官前来找格雷迪，两伙人谈判过程中，格雷迪并不友好。押送格雷迪的两个警察也追踪而至，于是发生火拼。外交官和他的手下死了，奥洛克腹部中弹。格雷迪以给奥洛克叫救护车为条件，让奥洛克给他一天时间。刚刚打出求救电话，外交官的一个保镖潜入，打斗中，用剑砍开了格雷迪的手铐，格雷迪两只手才分开，最后凯特刺死了这个保镖。格雷迪拿着哥哥克里斯的护照，决定跟凯特逃跑。在机场安检处，由于格雷迪还带着手铐，电子门报警，格雷迪谎称是手表导致机器报警，于是安检人员放格雷迪通过。格雷迪扔掉了电子触发器，和凯特走向了登机口。
