I saw the trailer for Free Solo at the cinema last night and it terrified me. I say this as an ex- (we're talking long, long ago) rock climber, never very accomplished but keen for several years. Astonishing achievement and we know that Alex Honnold is alive and well - but those dizzying shots of him free climbing thousands of feet from the ground on El Capitan were hard to take. I am interested in seeing the film following the acclaim it has received but am not sure my heart can take it.
