I know it seems really out of place in this setting but I still love the soundtrack to this movie. I can't really think of anything I don't like about this movie but a lot of people focus on the soundtrack as being a negative.

I used to find the music unbearable once
and while I'd still prefer something more suitable & traditional, the soundtrack as it is really adds to the sense of 80's nostalgia this film brings up in me.

The classical part of the Alan Parsons music, re. the start of the introduction and the transformation part. is amazing!
The slight discordance of the accords and the magical related feeling gives me the shivers every time!
Some of the rhythmic 80'-bit is annoying and should be upgraded to fit into this time. However, the theme is great!

I liked it at the time (still have the OST on vinyl) and still do. "She Was Sad At First" and "Final Reunion/End Title" remain fixtures on my phone and car playlist.
Never understood the complaints. I remember a time when you'd often hear the music used during ice dancing performances.

I never thought of that way before, but it does fit. Nice observation.
The soundtrack is frequently criticized, but the memory of the opening theme still brings me back to that experience of seeing this on the big screen.
